Luftrumsovervågning Stensved og Skovhuse

📍 Skovhusegade, 4773 Stensved

Free
In Skovhuse near Stensved on South Zealand, the Danish Air Force opened a radar station in 1954 as part of NATO's joint air defence system. The station was one of six radar stations built across Denmark and could monitor airspace within a radius of 160 km. In 1970, the characteristic radar dome was erected housing a new radar with a range of 220 km — far enough to cover airspace over Poland and East Germany. Active until 2004, the station has been designated by the Danish Agency for Culture and Palaces as one of 25 particularly significant Cold War heritage sites in Denmark.
