Jungshoved Nor

📍 Jungshoved, 4720 Præstø

Free
Jungshoved Nor is a shallow, enclosed fjord landscape south-east of Præstø, formed at the end of a tunnel valley system from the last ice age. The coastal areas feature salt meadows and marsh with a rich flora; small centaury, which has only two localities in Denmark, and the rare brackish-water plant large naiad have been recorded here. The marsh harrier breeds in the reed beds. The 1976 nature protection order covers 449 hectares and forms part of the Ulvshale-Nyord wildlife reserve and EU bird protection area. The nor is best experienced from Jungshoved Kirke and the castle mound, or from the water in a flat-bottomed boat or kayak.
